A-25. Confederate IDENTIFIED canteen, Model 1858 "Bullseye" Pattern, no cover as is normally found on North Carolina used ones. This has one of the COOLEST straps I have ever seen, fashioned from a Yankee musket sling and some lead rivets! Has name clearly carved into strap, "J.K. Wilkerson"—and purchased from a family descendant. Wilkerson served in Company "K", 55th North Carolina Infantry, from 1862 to 1865. This regiment is best known for its role at Gettysburg, which earned the North Carolina boast "Farthest to the Front at Gettysburg," well ahead of the Virginians! Has one of the neatest stoppers, too—carved applewood on the original metal finger pull!   Sold! for $1,850.00
