03s38 Civil War Model 1840 Militia Non Commissioned Officer sword circa 1855-60. 26 ¼" etched blade with fluted bone grip and knights head pommel, with US shield motifs on the langets. No scabbard. Etching is light, but visible. Quality of an Ames, but I cannot see under the langet ! Similar to Peterson #42, but of later manufacture. Unquestionably not of the flimsy example type produced in the 1870-90 era. $375
