Beyond rare Confederate Identified and inscribed McElroy officer sword! One of perhaps three known to exist which have the owner’s name etched directly on the blade at the time of manufacture! Early 1861 polished wood grip and extremely crisp etching panels on both sides. No scabbard and guard has a minor break and bend, as does the original wire wrap. W.J. McElroy, Macon, Georgia on one side and Lieut. F. W. Johnson, Lamar Infantry, on the other…Company A of the 54th Regiment, Cobb’s Legion, extremely important historical unit! Johnson also saw service in the 59th Georgia Infantry, Company K, and Company C, 1st Independent Georgia Battalion of Infantry.
